41. —(1) Every member of the Defence Forces shall be liable to be employed on military service anywhere within the area of application of the Acts of the Oireachtas. |
[GA] | (2) Every member of the Defence Forces serving as a member of a ship's crew on board a State ship shall be liable to be employed on military service both within and without the territorial waters of the State. | |

Additional provisions in relation to directly enlisted reservists. |
42. —(1) A directly enlisted reservist shall be liable to be employed for service with, or attached to, any unit of the Forces or the Reserve. |
[GA] | (2) The following provisions of the Principal Act shall not apply in respect of directly enlisted reservists, that is to say, sub-section (4) of section 221 , and section 223 . | |
[GA] | (3) In this section the expression “directly enlisted reservist” means a person directly enlisted as a man of the Reserve of Men under Chapter II of this Part of this Act. |
